Local Authority Flexible Funding

LA Flex - What is it?

LA Flex is a part of the governments already successful ECO scheme where certain households can qualify for improvements like insulation and heating without needing to be on a means tested benefit.

This new mechanism, also known as “flexible eligibility”, allows Local Authorities to make declarations determining that certain households meet the eligibility criteria for a measure under ECO.

If your properties Energy Performance Certificate(EPC) is D, E, F or G rated or if you don’t have a current EPC then you should qualify.

Why is the service free?

Funding is available for most UK households as part of the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme, which aims to help reduce carbon emissions and help more homes keep their homes warm.

Under ECO, larger energy suppliers fund the installation of energy efficiency measures in UK homes, so you benefit without the expense. The scheme covers installations, such as cavity wall insulation, loft insulation, room in the loft insulation and more efficient heating systems. If the energy suppliers fall short of their obligations they receive hefty fines. The ECO scheme legally requires the main energy suppliers to install energy efficient technologies such as cavity wall insulation, loft insulation and room in the roof insulation to households in the UK.

Keep the Heat in and Save £££s

You could save up to £465 a year on your heating bills by installing loft and cavity wall insulation. These are two of the easiest and most cost effective ways to make your home more energy efficient and keep all that lovely heat in, as well as making it cooler in the summer.

You could save over £25* every year by installing loft and cavity wall insulation. Without adequate insulation in your home, you will be losing around 35% of the heat you are paying for through your walls and a further 25% through your roof.

"Why insulate your cavity walls
Around 35% of the heat you pay for is lost through the walls, if they are not insulated. Cavity wall insulation could save you money and start saving you energy.

Most homes built after 1929 have cavity walls, which means there is a gap between the external and internal walls. Cavity wall insulation fills that gap in using material such as foam or wool to help keep the warmth in and the cold air out. It can also help to fight climate change by reducing the amount of energy you use to heat your home.
"Why insulate your loft?"
Did you know that 25% of the heat you buy is lost through your roof? By installing loft insulation, you can quickly save on your heating bills and stay warm all year round.

Our professional installers will lay mineral wool under the rafters and between the joists in your loft, keeping all that lovely warmth in your home.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our team is just a click away if you need any advice about rendering and plastering, but here are some answers to the questions our customers ask most.

  • How do I know if my house is suitable for cavity wall insulation?
If your house was built after 1929, it probably has cavity walls and will be suitable, but some older properties are also suitable. We offer a free assessment of your home and then provide expert advice on the best type of insulation for your property.
  • How is cavity wall insulation done?
Cavity wall insulation fills the gap between your external and internal walls. Small holes are drilled in the mortar between the bricks, allowing our expert team to pump in the insulation material. The whole process takes a few hours before the holes are filled back in.
  • Will I be able to use my loft for storage once it’s insulated?
The minimum thickness for insulation is 270mm, which means the ceiling joists may be lower than the top of the insulation. It is not advised to squash the wool, as this reduces its insulating properties. Alternatively, additional joists can be added to raise the floor, allowing for the floor to be boarded. We will talk you through all the options, depending on your property.
  • Can you reinstall cavity wall insulation after it’s been removed?
The Complete Remedial Solutions team has over 50 years' industry experience working for the leading insulation companies. We can also reassess your property's suitability to reinstall it if possible.
  • I already have some loft insulation, do I need to replace it?
The current EEC regulations require a minimum of 270mm of loft insulation. If you have any existing insulation, this can be topped up with an additional layer to bring it up to he minimum. Our professional team will take a look at the current status of your loft and make recommendations for the best way to meet your needs.
